There are two main types of POE (Power over Ethernet): standard PoE and non-standard PoE. ‌
Standard PoE
Standard PoE switches work based on the IEEE 802.3af standard, which allows power and data transmission over network lines. Standard PoE switches transmit low-voltage DC power through network cables, and devices only send power when they request power.
It has a port identification function that can detect the power requirements of the device and provide the corresponding power. Standard PoE switches are suitable for a variety of devices, such as IP phones, wireless cameras, wireless access points, etc., which can simplify wiring and improve the security and reliability of the system. ‌

Non-standard PoE
Non-standard PoE switches do not follow specific standards and may not have port identification functions or support specific power supply modes. This switch has lower power capacity and stability than standard PoE switches, making it suitable for simple applications or temporary use.
So PoE has two types: standard PoE and non-standard PoE. If you would like to learn more about PoE or place an order for PoE products, please feel free to contact us.
