As one of the transformer structures, what is the role and form of the iron core structure? This article will take you to learn more about the core of a transformer.

The role of the iron core
Manufacturers produce Transformers by following the concept of electromagnetic induction. The magnetic circuit acts as the medium for the transformation of electrical energy. The iron core, which is the main magnetic circuit of the transformer, primarily serves to carry magnetism. It converts electricity into magnetism, and subsequently reconverts magnetism into electricity.

Form of iron core
The iron core consists of two parts: an iron core column and an iron yoke. The windings cover the iron core posts, and the iron yokes connect the iron core posts to form a closed magnetic circuit.

Heat dissipation of iron core
In the regular functioning of the transformer, the iron core produces heat as a result of iron losses. The heat generated is directly proportional to the weight and size of the core. The transformer oil is susceptible to aging if the temperature exceeds 95 degrees. Therefore, it is essential for the iron core's heat dissipation structure to efficiently disperse the heat generated by the core.
The primary function of the heat dissipation structure is to expand the heat dispersion surface of the iron core. The iron core's heat dissipation involves the oil and air channels for dissipating heat.

Noise from the iron core
Transformers generate noise during operation. The root cause of the transformer body noise lies in the magnetostriction of the iron core silicon steel sheet. In other words, the noise in the transformer core is basically caused by magnetostriction.

You can reduce the noise level of the iron core through the following technical measures.
(1) Employ superior-grade silicon steel plates with a minimal ε magnetostriction value.
(2) Diminish the magnetic flux density within the iron core.
(3) Enhance the iron core's structural design.
(4) Select an appropriate size for the core.
(5) Utilize cutting-edge processing techniques.

Iron core grounding
You must ground the core at one point. When metal parts connect to the ground at multiple points, they create a loop and allow a current to flow through it. The flow of electricity can become strong. This can cause overheating, oil breakdown, and damage to the grounding piece and iron core.
However, we do not allow this. Therefore, ground the core at one point.

The above is an introduction to the iron core of the transformer.
