We can usually connect a PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch to a computer. But there are a few things to note when plugging PoE into my computer.

This article will introduce you to the relevant precautions for plugging PoE into my computer.
Point 1: Precautions for power supply
If the switch supports PoE, it will power compatible devices. If an ordinary computer does not support PoE, it will not get power from the PoE switch. At this time, it still needs to rely on a standard power plug for power.
Point 2: Precautions for data transmission
As long as the switch port and the computer's network card are compatible, this prerequisite can be met. This can use an Ethernet cable to connect the computer and the PoE switch for network communication.
Point 3: Precautions for compatibility of non-PoE devices
If your switch is PoE, and then a port is connected to a computer, the general computer can receive data. This computer can receive network data normally, but will not get power from the switch. At the same time, the PoE switch can also power other PoE devices.
Point 4: Precautions for security
A true PoE switch follows the IEEE802.3 protocol. Therefore, before supplying power, it will detect whether the interface connects to a standard PoE powered device. If the interface is connected to a non-powered device such as a computer, no power will be supplied.
Although the PoE switch can be directly connected to the computer, the computer will not receive power from the switch. As long as the port and network card work together, the computer can connect to the PoE switch using an Ethernet cable.
